How to Decoupage Easter Eggs

These are my favorite...

So easy, all you need is an egg that has been drained,
and cleaned, some old crayons,
white or cream tissue paper and glue.

First cover the egg with thinned glue and
then roll in grated crayon flakes ( I just put a
few flakes on each egg so it looked more
realistic).

I used brown, blue, pink and red crayons, and grated them
on a small cheese grater.

Then put a thin layer of tissue paper over the crayon flakes
making sure that the edges of the tissue paper
are all laying tight against the egg, so there is no lifting.

Once the glue had dried I put them in the oven just long
enough to melt the crayons, but not too hot to
brown the egg. (I think the temperature was
at about 200)

Super easy, durable, and a lot of fun.
I love bringing them out every year.

Layering with a window

Old, new, used and slightly neglected,

I would have to say that about sums up this post  :)
It all started with this window that we found many
years ago while renovating our 90 yr old home.

This window must have been covered for years, maybe 50 or 60 years,
without the glass breaking.  Just waiting behind layers of panelling
and paint for us to find her.  And now a few houses later, I have
found the perfect spot.

This silver set is from my Grandma, and I am sure she
would not be impressed that it is not all
polished up but for the moment I am enjoying
the patina of the tarnish.

As I spring clean I am finding that my tastes are changing,
I am looking for contrasts and small splashes of color.
Our home just keeps evolving.

(Completely lost my voice now!  so
I will be making more tea and
relaxing for the rest of the day.)

Spring Cleaning,

Spring...really?

Whether it is really spring or not I must clean
the cobwebs from our cottage!
I am the type of person that only likes to clean
when I can make some changes.
This green coffee cup has been the subject of
many changes... the domino affect
through out our home.

Our master bedroom hasnt really changed but
it did get some 'spring'.
I seem to be going more with lighter green, pink
and a lighter blue, mixed with dark wood and white.

Switching out white pillowcases for
some color.  A super easy change.
Soooo  that's one room down,
baby steps right?

Thought I better take a quick shot before
reality kicks in!
We've been getting snow flurries, and COLD
weather in Canada so its been easier to
 stay in and clean.
Hope you are enjoying your spring cleaning.
