Front Yard Fix

We have been working our butts off on the front yard!
PHEW!

We live above the city a little so our winters are longer and
summers are a little cooler...
I complain about that but I actually like the cooler summers.

I have made a few changes in my flower pots...
I tried to use cold/wind tolerating plants and flowers.

I have seen ceders being used as the center height in flower
pots so I thought I would try it..I LOVE it.

The landscape in the front yard has been changed too!

Before the grass stopped half way under that window
and exposed the foundation making the front
of the house look cut up.
Sssooo my wonderful husband moved huge
boulders and dirt, creating a much more
pleasing and  welcoming front entrance.

I really wanted to keep it  'cottagey'
with evergreens and large boulders,

wood chips,

and copper solar lights .

I found this tiny nest in the middle of the pine tree
while I was taking pictures, pretty sure
its been vacant for a year or two...:)

In a few years this should fill out nicely,
creating a cozy cottage feeling :)
(....xmas lights are coming down!!!
I thought they would be nice for the
graduation festivities but now i see them
in these pictures the are coming down!)
