Master Bedroom with a Boho Vibe

Welcome!

It's my bedrooms turn, and
I have been eyeing up this room for some time.

With multiple paint chips sticky tacked in various spots for quite some time,
unable to make a decision...do I go light and airy or cozy and darker?!?

(You can see a paint chip on the top right corner of picture below).

Finally, I decided with cozy and warmer.

Arden Forge by CIL.

I had it color matched to go into Ralph Lauren paint

at Home Depot.  I walked in to a paint sale, $16 a can!

They had sold out of the base that I needed but  they

mixed me five quart size cans instead, at $6 a can. You're probably

wondering why I bought the extra can, I was planning

on  painting the bathroom the next day. It was a little bit

more than the sale pricing,  but still a great deal.

 I was afraid this color would be too dark,

 or we wouldn't like the purple undertones.   But we can change it.

Repainting a room isn't too much work, lol,

The sun really changes the color, ranging from dark blue

back to a purple-blue. Very cozy.  I decided to paint 

 the tray ceiling white, giving it a clean look.

Below, it was painted shortly after we moved in, 2010, and now in dire need

for a change.

And before that, below is from the real estate photos.

Loving the results of the paint and

keeping with my true nature, I reused all of my old furniture,
 treasures and linens. For a few reasons, I love the
history of our 'stuff', plus I am fairly thrifty. 

As everything found a spot, I felt a little boho style coming on.
Not a full on, but definitely a little shot of it.

Maybe a little eclectic.  I like mixing things up. 

I like color, but not too much. Lot's of natural and neutral tones. 

 Textures always help as well.

And I enjoy seeing our treasures.

Just this side table alone has a real mix, a sparkly lamp with a french shade,
 my little sleepy Buddha, silver, galvanized...I love it all!

oh, and plants! I can't seem to get enough.
 Partially due to this extreme Canadian winter, and I love plants.

The plant below was a 'rescue' plant, bought for a song,
and the basket has been borrowed from our rec room.

There will be no repainting, we love it!
No regrets on the dark color. I am so glad I took a chance..
Hope you step out of your comfort too!
It may take you in a whole new direction.

Manning Up

Its come to my attention that our

bedroom...sorry husband.

Actually I would just like to say that everyone

of these teddies came from him..<3

I love them!

Pictures are of our three daughters as babies, LOVE

them too! :)

I kinda-sorta 'manned' this room up...

took out some of the ruffles, removed some 

flowers, its perfect, with fall in the air.

I am still searchingfor material for curtains..not sure

if I would like to go white and airy or a warmer 

neutral pattern.

I think that is a fair compromise ... his

Spring Cleaning,

Spring...really?

Whether it is really spring or not I must clean

the cobwebs from our cottage!

I am the type of person that only likes to clean

when I can make some changes.

This green coffee cup has been the subject of

many changes... the domino affect

through out our home.

Our master bedroom hasnt really changed but

it did get some 'spring'.

I seem to be going more with lighter green, pink

and a lighter blue, mixed with dark wood and white.

Switching out white pillowcases for

some color.  A super easy change. 

Soooo  that's one room down,

baby steps right?

Thought I better take a quick shot before

reality kicks in! 

We've been getting snow flurries, and COLD

weather in Canada so its been easier to

 stay in and clean.

First let me say...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Not sure how this whole blogging thing works but I know that I have a whole ton of projects to do on and around our new house, limited budget and lots of ideas! I think it would be fun to share this whole process with you and so I am entering the land of blog….a little nervous but really excited.

We bought our house a little over a month ago and we love it. Besides the fact that there where only 3 finished bedrooms ,(we have 3 children) not a lot of closet space, and only 2 bathrooms. At least there is the full basement that is unfinished so we can expand our living down stairs after some major building and finishing. Did I mention that every room needs to be repainted. This house was nicknamed the Hamburger House .We aren’t big fans of mustard and ketchup on the walls… not that there’s anything wrong with that…it’s just not my style, so there will be massive amounts of painting going on.

Our home is new and has a lot of character built in J crown mouldings, odd shaped rooms and high ceilings. It reminds me of a house we owned a few years ago that was very hard to leave. L

I love the rustic side of French country and shabby chic with a touch of elegance and romance. Having said all of that we also have a very limited budget…3 daughters, 2 cats and 1 dog…so I have to push our creativity and energy (lots of elbow grease) and get busy.

　

　

　

　

　

I thought I would share with you a few photos of my first project in our new house, the master bedroom

 Before the room was too divided with the red and yellow on opposing walls, but the tray ceiling

 and the crown moulding made up for the colors.

   Just paint and furniture placement make this room a lot more relaxing. Not quite done yet, I need a chandelier and painted furniture..More pictures to come, :)
