Pretty Industrial Office

Phew!

We are done with MOST of the construction 

in our office...  for now.  You can check out
what it looked like before here.

And that is why

Spring Cleaning is in full swing!

I just couldn't wait any longer to put

my home back together, and clean the dust out of it!

 Even though the trim isn't up, I just had to make it

feel like home again. The rest will have to wait until the fall!

I have had fun setting it up so far. I am trying to achieve 

an Industrial look with lots of 'Pretty' touches.

Industrial look, with some feminine details, like
 ruffles, sparkles, and silver.

This poor little shelf has been hauled around

our home, used in almost everyroom.

I feel like it deserved a little make-over...

a little chalk paint to the rescue!!

Much Better!

I just got these crates a few days ago.

 I made my husband stop at

this Antique Store, because I saw them stacked 

behind the back door, like they were garbage!

Am I crazy or do you see the beauty in these 

pieces too?  The couple behind the counter 

looked at me like I lost my mind, and 

asked "what are you going to do with them?"

I was so happy with them, I must of  had a huge

 smile on my face, and I said " They are going in our Office!

 They are perfectly distressed and aged!" They got a good clean, and ...

they are my kind of perfect!

All the furniture in this room, actually

in the entire house, has been moved, reused,

repaired, slip covered, rescued, repainted or restained,
and  the office furniture is no exception.  This black desk

came from a 2nd hand store, about 5 

years ago.  Once I got it home I 

 couldn't wait to painted it black.

The aging is from all of its moves.

;)

I like the way it looks with the 

crates and the slip-covered chair.

Just a tiny bit of Easter in the office...

It's going to be fun filling up these blank

spaces!  Currently I am collecting frames and 'oddities'

for the office walls.

We did stained concrete through out the 

family room, hallway, and office.  We chose

to do this to the floor while we have teens and

pets. I love the results, they are exactly what we need

in the basement right now.  My first choice would be to have it

all carpeted...I would rather have pets and kids :))

AND

My favorite part of this room...

with a big bucket of chalk, 

Ofcourse. :)

Industrial Cottage Family Room

A few weeks ago
I showed you how far we have come from
our barren basement family room.  You can see the progress  here .
In the last few weeks we have put together a much more
 inviting space to  hang out in.

I know, there are still  a LOT of projects
left to be done, however it is much more inviting, especially
 when the fireplace is on.  Which is still being

used in March. 

Not only is it good for warmth, it makes a great focal point!  So I knew
it was where I wanted to begin the 'nesting'.  I think it started

when I found this 'P' tag.  Call me crazy, but I feel like  

pussy willows work in the industrial style...right?

My favorite craft store was having a sale ...

50% off so I bought a few stems, I love they way they look.

It's hard to tell they are artificial.

My reminder to all that hang out in the family room,

that this is  a 'COTTAGE' style.  Just in case guests are wondering.  :)

 I am excited to start looking around and refinishing,

or refurbishing treasures for this room.  That is my kind

of fun!

Some drop cloth pillow covers and a 

Graphic Fairy transfer. I have  had a few request
 for more crown pillows.

I see another slip cover in the near future...

or maybe just new furniture,

I think its probably time.

I like the way that that plant fills the window.  It seems
to be happy there, any signs of distress and I will move it.

I love Peace Lilys.

This little round table was my Grandmothers and I have

had it for about 25 years. I think this is my favorite spot for

 it so far.  The wood panel in the back matches the panel I put on top

 of the mantel.  I like how they change the corners, 

making it cosy. They just need some 

 salvaged pieces to go with.

This white flower pot seemed really stark against the wood, 

so I wrapped a belt that is broken around it.

I am pretty sure I have seen this done on 

pinterest...I cant take the credit. 

  This burlap sack is filled with all the blankets that

aren't in the industrial theme of the room.  We have a lot of afghans,

 all made lovingly by my Mum.  They are wonderful to have for

 hanging out, watching movies or sleep overs,

so we want them close.

 I am hoping that this peace lily blooms soon.

They get large white flowers that last a very long time.

Pretty and they filter the air.

Eyesore Alert!

Ok...so this is a big project..I want a

super rough, aged, distressed entertainment center.

To hide the mess...cables, games, chargers, etc.

I have a large heavy crate that I am going to stamp and distress. :)))

  I just need a few more so that they can be stacked

to create a few shelves. 

At the moment we have covered the windows with 

old curtains.  They weren't picture worthy so I took them

down.  We have since put them back up, strictly for

privacy.

And that is how our family room looks for now.  

Today, I get to finish the touch ups of mudding 

in our Computer Space.  It is so messy and dust 

is everywhere.  But it's the last of

of the dry walling dust, and that

 makes me very 

happy!

Industrial Cottage Style Basement

When we bought this house

the  basement was bare boned.

Except for the outer walls, they were gyproced,
not filled, but just gyproced.

The bedrooms had the 2x4 skeleton walls in
place, wiring and duct work for heat.

There was a bathtub where the bathroom 

was to be and plumbing.  It was COLD.

We knew we needed the space immediately 

for our girls, so we got busy and finished

the two bedrooms and then the bathroom.

The basement family room has not

been a priority, as long as it was warm and
comfy we didn't worry about it being 2X4s.

But, bit by bit, very slowly, the family

room is coming together.  I thought

I would show you how we have
 been spending our free time.

If you have any sort of storage
war phobia or like wise, please
turn away!
If you are still here.... the fireplace is electric,
but it heats up the family room nicely...
with the help of our furnace.  

This is looking from the office into the storage space.

We made the opening for the door extra large

 for the stand-up freezer, and any larger

items.

The family room has a lot of windows and
gets beautiful sun light through all seasons.

Yes, sadly, like most unfinished spaces,

it was our dumping ground.  I am really hoping

that when the downstairs is finished

everyone will put away after themselves...

please..:))

The picture below is standing at the girls bathroom,

looking down the hallway toward

 the family room.  To the left is the

 doorway to the office and storage,

I was planning on putting a

large barn door there. 

In the picture below, you can see the beam I am 

planning to cover, and make look like 

an aged barn beam.

 Yep, my husband has his priorities.

As soon as the paint was dry the

TV went up and Hockey was back on :))

One of my favorite things we have done in the basement....

STAINED CONCRETE!

It was a TON of work,

 but soooo worth it!

(The green tape was to prevent me from overlapping

 the stain and has been removed.)

We still have a ways to go...

 trim, window covering, furniture, and 

the list goes on!

Right now we are mudding the 

office\computer area....

just waiting till the dust settles!

I can't wait to get decorating down here!
I have been pinning my plans here.

 It is definitely feeling

a lot more Industrial Cottage

then Basement Dumping Ground!
