Front Yard Fix

We have been working our butts off on the front yard!
PHEW!

We live above the city a little so our winters are longer and
summers are a little cooler...
I complain about that but I actually like the cooler summers.

I have made a few changes in my flower pots...
I tried to use cold/wind tolerating plants and flowers.

I have seen ceders being used as the center height in flower
pots so I thought I would try it..I LOVE it.

The landscape in the front yard has been changed too!

Before the grass stopped half way under that window
and exposed the foundation making the front
of the house look cut up.
Sssooo my wonderful husband moved huge
boulders and dirt, creating a much more
pleasing and  welcoming front entrance.

I really wanted to keep it  'cottagey'
with evergreens and large boulders,

wood chips,

and copper solar lights .

I found this tiny nest in the middle of the pine tree
while I was taking pictures, pretty sure
its been vacant for a year or two...:)

In a few years this should fill out nicely,
creating a cozy cottage feeling :)
(....xmas lights are coming down!!!
I thought they would be nice for the
graduation festivities but now i see them
in these pictures the are coming down!)

Sneak Peek

I have been busy in the guest room.  I actually didn't
plan on doing the guest room until the fall but.....

It all started with fabric on sale at Fabricland.
Gotta love the clearance area in the back
of the store.  :)
I found this for $8.99 a meter!  It's a lovely weaved
fabric.  I had planned to go with soft yellow and blue already
and when I saw this fabric it sealed the deal!

The side tables where a mahogany toned wood
and the other side table was an orangy wood tone...
sooo  they got a blue paint job.

I am planning on using a white duvet on the bed,
just gotta make it a little more comfy cozy.
At the moment I am working on adding some
dark wood with texture into the room...
Once I am satisfied with it I will show the
whole space.

Hope you like the colors Mom!
Have a super weekend,
Abby

Snow Day?

 Nope, it's not a joke...not an April fool's prank.

 Poor birds!

I think that we will have to postpone the yard work
I had planned to do.
It's all good, I go back to work tomorrow
and our house needs some major cleaning.
I had a roast planned for dinner tonight,
now I am soo glad, it is definitely a
roast day!
Hope your day is full
of everything you enjoy!
